ভোটারের বা পরিচয়পত্রধারীর আইডি নম্বর ঠিকানাসহ যাবতীয় তথ্য এই আইডিতে সংরক্ষিত থাকবে। শুধুমাত্র যন্ত্রের সাহায্যে এসব তথ্য পাঠ করা যাবে। টেকসই ও সুন্দর অবয়বে এ কার্ড বহুমুখী ব্যবহারযোগ্য হওয়ায় তা সাধারণভাবে স্মার্ট কার্ড হিসেবেই বিবেচিত হবে।
